Tamar Braxton is speaking out about a medical emergency she had during the holiday season.

On Friday, the TV personality posted an update on Instagram, informing her followers that she had been rushed to the hospital after spending time with her friends preparing for Christmas.

“This isn’t an advertisement… This is a WARNING post “She penned a letter. “I was literally shopping with my best friends @normankgyamfi and @wardellmalloy and doing Christmas fun s—- and the VERY NEXT DAY I had to be taken to the hospital by AMBULANCE, needed oxygen because I thought God was taking me home because I couldn’t breathe and my chest was on FIRE!!”

“I was taken to @northsidehosp and was met by the BEST nurses and doctors, including @therealdrjackie, to find out what’s wrong,” Braxton, 45, continued.

“Yall, I have the flu, and let me tell you, in my opinion, it’s worse than COVID,” she explained. “I’m taking five different medications…please be cautious. I wasn’t around many people at the time and have NO IDEA where it came from. Enjoy your holiday AT HOME… you don’t want this… oh yeah, I’m completely isolated because it’s hella contagious I love y’all for real.”

One video from the post shows Braxton laughing with her friends, seemingly prior to the health scare. Braxton can be seen wearing her mask while sitting in a hospital bed in another selfie.

Her mother, Evelyn Braxton, 74, commented on the post, saying, “I adore you. Tamar, please get well soon.”

According to multiple reports, Tamar was hospitalized in 2020 after being discovered unresponsive in her room at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in downtown Los Angeles. She later revealed in a lengthy and raw Instagram statement that she had attempted suicide after years of “pain” as a reality star in the entertainment industry.

Tamar returned to reality television this year after joining VH1’s The Surreal Life, telling E! Online in October, “Here we are introducing to the world Tamar 2.0 and I think you’re really going to enjoy this one.”
